1. 审题不当。根据题目要求“你的美国朋友Tom上个月来到北京学习。七月份你将去北京参加暑期中学生英语演讲比赛，你在资料搜集、语言运用等方面遇到了困难。”可知，Tom现在应该在北京，而很多学生理解为“Tom回到美国后的学习与生活感受以及自己计划到美国去看他”，与文章要求不符。
2. 不能正确书写常见词汇。例如：nervious(nervous), sevel(several), preety(pretty), writing(writing), mouth(month), suggest(suggestion)，receive(recive)等等。
3. 常用词汇的用法不当或使用一些自己没有把握的词汇。例如：
※ I’d like you to give me a favour and help me break through this problem.
※ I have a exciting news/some knowledges/informations.
※ I’m concern about you.
※ Are you adapt to your life style and study?
※ If you have problems, you will ask to me.

4. 句子的时态语态, 单复数形式和句子结构意识较差。例如：

※ The competition will hold in Beijing.
※ I mean to visit you when I finishing my English contest.
5. 出现大量的汉式英语。例如：
※ I’m very happy that heard you come Beijing for study.
※ I’m afraid of you don’t adopt to the Beijing new environment.
※ I look heavy of this speech contest very much.
6. 平时只注重背诵，忽略了理解和训练，胡乱套用其他内容。
